The winter cold and snow reminds us of stories and songs of the sleigh rides of early times. It is easy to visualize the scenes of Currier and Ives as we view the one-horse sleigh of 1902 as it sits in the showcase (constructed by Benny Willetts).
The sleigh was donated to the Marion County Historical Society and Village by Willa Walter Johnson (sister of Chuck Walter). The 1902 one-horse sleigh was a gift to Willa from her husband, Charles and occupied a place of honor in their living room.
This sleigh has brought many favorable comments from people of all ages, and usually brings reminisces of winter fun of sleigh rides, sledding, ice skating and other winter activities.
